The Academic Advisory Center is a "home base" for all H&SS students. For all freshmen and transfer students, the AAC serves as a home department until they declare a major. Students see their AAC advisors for many different reasons, including selecting courses, discussing academic difficulties, adjusting to college life, choosing a major, and learning about scholarships and research opportunities. The AAC is more than a place to bring problems--it's more like an Academic "Enhancement" Center.

Once students declare a major, they are assigned a faculty advisor in their department. However, students may still return to the AAC for information about their General Education requirements, other majors and minors, transfer credit, cross-registration, and use of campus resources, while still taking advantage of the more major-specific advice from their faculty advisor.
