H&SS Computer Consulting and Purchasing Support

H&SS Computing provides hardware and software technical support for university-owned computers running Macintosh OS 10.3 (or higher) and Windows XP. H&SS Computing can also provide limited support for Unix workstations.

If you are considering purchasing a new machine, either for your personal educational needs or for your department, please contact us. We can assist with determining your computing needs and ensuring that purchased hardware is compatible with your current equipment and the university's technology infrastructure. We are able to assist with the purchase of equipment through the university's Computer Store and other vendors. This service extends to peripheral devices and accessories as well.

Undergraduates in need of computing assistance should contact Computing Services at 412-268-HELP. For more information specific to first year undergraduates at Carnegie Mellon, please visit the FreshStart website.

Check our documentation page for instructions for adding printers to your CMU or personally-owned computer.

For any assistance with your hardware or software, or questions regarding our purchasing policies, call H&SS Computing at (412) 268-5136 or email hsshelp@andrew.cmu.edu.
