Center for the Arts in Society in the Community

The Center conducts projects that represent and embody different strategies for examining arts in society. These projects are the result of discussions and consensus among Center members, and involve collaboration across fields, partnerships with community organizations, and consultations with local arts and cultural organizations.

The Center's outreach efforts are currently focused on the city's underserved youth. These projects include Take Back the Hill, the student-run Hill District newspaper, and the Arts Greenhouse project, in which students learn about musical traditions and today's music industry.
